Good Morning All! Hope your week is going smooth and the beats are flowing! I’m working on some big tracks today. Last night I made some starters with Reason 4.0. I am finally getting used to the new sequencer screen after doing the tutorials here.

I’ve noticed a lot of Industry producers are using software more and more. Reason is definitely one of my top choices. The more I learn it, the more I love it.

Let’s take a look at World Famous Dj MixMaster Mike. He discusses Reason in an interview 1st, then we get to see him using Reason 4.0 for a track..

Wow its 11:45 am here..I couldn’t log in for a while, but looks like I fixed the error…

I know I haven’t done enough post on Reason 4.0 yet. They take a little longer for me. I will be adding plenty more soon. I’ve gotten all my equipment synced, so all is running smooth and now I am used to the 4.0 edition…

I really like this tutorial. He really gets into the groove of things so to speak . He also uses a sample every producer has probably used. Enjoy..and I’ll be on tomorrow for live help..early am again til around 1:00pm..

I’m gearing up for the first 4.0 tutorials. I’m new to it, but I’m familiar with Reason 3.0.

I save templates for any software I use, so I can get to work right away. I mentioned that Reason 4 has added features, maybe I’ll have to use it more to be blown away by the upgrades….

The steps are basically the same as I explained in the Reason 3 Knockin Kicks Post. This is a reminder to prepare you for the forth coming “Reason 4.0 Dirty South Tutorial” which I’ll be posting later on, or tomorrow morn….

I start with:
Two mixers (pictured above)
I add a Redrum, and route the outputs to Mixer2
I add a few Dr Rex Samplers
Because I am pre-mixing my drums within the software, I add the effects I’ll use for the drums/mixer 2 before I begin the beat

Next I’ll pick a few drum sounds, for example an 808 kick, Snare, and hat. I usually try to tweak my kick and pay attention to it while I’m adding other instruments. At this point, I have only added compression, eq, and maximizer to the drum mixer which looks like this:

Once my drums sound decent I’ll add a few nnxts or malstroms etc and begin the beat making process.

The Reason 4.0 Dirty South Tutorial will be a little on the advanced side. If you have been following the tutorials you won’t have a problem. Those new to the site, take some time to learn the basic way to start up a Reason Song, and of course questions are encouraged. I will be using chord progressions and snare rolls, all the good stuff of todays T.I, Weezy, productions . I’m excited, and to all emcees this will be a free promotional beat download!!~

Hey all!~ Hope your Holiday week was great….mine was, and I had to get right to work immediately after…
The music is rolling full swing again, projects are started for 09, and I’ve been doing vocal sessions :-O… I know….. the vocal recording is a surprise to me as well, but so far so good…

I finally had a chance to figure it out. It’s basically the same as Reason 3 with a few great additions.

Todays post will be an introduction and we’ll get into our first Reason 4 tutorials early next week.
