How To Use Kore Fx With Maschine Inside Reaper

Posted by Ms.Tris On September - 20 - 2010

Hey Hey All! .. How is your week starting? I’ve been getting prepared to do the video tutorials .. yaaay.. I figured why not record one and post today to kick it off. I was a little nervous, but it turned out pretty decent. :)

This tutorial shows how to load a free Kore Player, and the Ni Maschine into Reaper, then route Maschine to use Kore Player Fx.

I stumbled onto to this today after re-installing my free Kore Player. I haven’t gone through all the effects yet, but I plan to use them on more sounds than drums. Although I used the Kore Fx on Maschine in the tutorial, you can replace Maschine with the instrument of your choice. Just select io after adding your plug-in, and add a send to the track where you have the Kore Player…

How To Rewire Reason To Various Daws

Posted by Ms.Tris On May - 13 - 2010

Good morning all! What a rainy week we’re having on the east coast :-( ..can’t complain because it makes it easy to work inside..

I’ve been using Native Instruments Maschine all week. I have it as a plug in inside Reaper. It’s a cool set up, and I am almost ready to do Maschine tutorials.

I have my template set. When I open Reaper, I load a template that has two Maschine Vsts, Kore Player, and Fl Studio. I really love the work flow now. The thing is I’d also love a few of Reason’s sound modules. The Malstrom, Subtracktor, Nnxt, and Dr.Rex would really complete my set up. :-)

I have never gotten Reason to Rewire to any Daw without doing a search. I guess it’s time to really understand how to do this. I’ll need to look at a few videos so I can remember the steps needed to add Reason.

Here are a few videos that may help others out. I have added some of this info before, but I thought it’d be cool to have most of the info in one post:

Reaper: Shortcuts, Intro, UI

Posted by Ms.Tris Beats On February - 3 - 2010

Hey all! How are you today? We got snow again last night. I thought it would be more but it’s not too bad outside as far as driving. I have a few graphic sessions later. I’m still adjusting the lab, moving out old pc, dusting, and checking out some videos while I do.

Reaper is my DAW of choice right now. I’m loving the ease of use, and the sound I’m getting from it. The video I’m posting next has shown me some cool shortcuts and functions I hadn’t used.

If you are thinking about getting or already using Reaper this is a must see to easily learn a few tips.

Setting Up Reaper For Live Recording: Beginner

Posted by Ms.Tris Beats On December - 1 - 2009

reaper-12-09

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about Reaper since first posting on it. It’s an awesome Daw for multi-tracking audio and midi. I found a video that will help the absolute beginner to Reaper set up for live recording.

This starts with assigning your audio card to prepare for recording, and goes on to recording a guitar riff using effects. Really easy to follow and should have you recording in no time.

Just a quick note on Reaper 3.0 update. The user guide is now free to download. They have made edits to keep it up to date with 3.0. Before you had to give a donation. I downloaded mine this morning and I’m about to try something new in Reaper.

Link to Reaper User Guide. 400 pages included:

I would like to use Reaper today for a full beat. No mpc ,no Reason, no Fl Studio. The first thing I needed to know is how to set up a drum vst. I know how to load the instrument, but I’d like to record each part to separate tracks.

Very happy I found this video byhttp://www.limitless-studios.com.

I have everything set up now- yaay! I am assuming this video will work for other vst drum modules also. Let me know if you try with any other vsti like GTG Drum Sampler.

Reaper Tutorial: Getting Started With Midi

Posted by Ms.Tris On June - 25 - 2009

Good Morning All! I always miss you all when I am unable to post. As usual if I am not here, I am busy with sessions and music business. This week and last have been very full which is a good thing.

Today all the hardware is on. Honestly I am still trying to get my hardware midi situation to run properly. Right now there are a few delay issues when recording midi using the Mpc.

I figured I’d try a different approach and record midi data into Reaper using the Mpc as the controller.

I know how to use vst instruments which is pretty easy to do in Reaper. Now I need to get my hardware synths to do the same.
I’ll watch this video in a few minutes, on my quest to quickly get the hardware midi going smoothly! Enjoy…

Getting Started With Midi and Reaper

I also found a cool link with pictures for those who need to set up hardware midi connections:

We will get back to regular post starting Wednesday of next week. I’ll stop in periodically to answer comments and post more music finds..

How To Load VST Plugins Into Reaper

Posted by Ms.Tris On January - 12 - 2009

image from www.bluewolfmedia.net

Mista Cee asked about adding plugins to Reaper. This may seem like a lot of steps at first. After a few times it will seem very easy.

Using vst and vst intruments in software varies. The main thing to remember is the path where you saved your plugins. I suggest saving all your plugins in the same folder, maybe adding sub-folders for different categories. My plugin folder may have a path like this:
H:\Plugins and VsTi\ Brass\ DSK BRASS
or
H:\Plugins and VsTi\ Effects\ Free-verb

Next you will have to tell the software where to look. This is usually done under “Options – Preferences”. In the image below I have selected “options then preferences” in Reaper:

Here is where I can set Reaper to look in my plugin folder for different plug ins. I have the option to set each path under “Plugins” to a specific folder:

Now I am ready to use the vsts in Reaper. I insert a new track, then select “FX” to choose the plug- in of my choice:
