Ms.Tris Beats Latest News:7-12-10

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 12 - 2010

Good Morn All! The birds had nothing on me today..I’ve already been to Petsmart, cleaned the lab a little, and set up a few Maschine templates.

Been pretty busy with a few things lately. I was the photographer for a wedding in NJ. I Did a very nice video, and photo DVD. WoW! it was so much work editing, cropping photos etc., but I enjoyed every minute. The couple was very pleased, and I’ll be doing another in August.

I’ve had a few sessions, and of course working on a lot of summertime projects with local artist. I am doing a Solo project with Mr. Rath of Subkrew , who’s out in California. I’m very excited about this because it’s been a while since I sole produced an entire cd.

I’m also working with Golden Seal, a female duo who’s been off the scene, and is making a return in a big way. Check out their last video ” Sista’s Pimpin”

Yes!..I’m getting my engineering on finally :) . We’ve been in the lab, and we are cooking up some heat for late summer/fall.

I got my tiny maltipoo “Zsa Zsa” spayed. She’s the last of three pets to get right for life..lol

For all my football fans, wouldn’t you love to walk out on the field? Well I had the chance to do that at M&T Bank Stadium. This is home to the “Mighty Purple”, The “Who Let The Dawgs Out”.. The BALTIMORE RAVENS! :) . I’m a huge Ravens fan, and it was such a treat to see things up close and personal:

This week it’s back to blogging along with music yaay :) . I’ve got many beats to do, and post to write.

What have you all been up to this summer? Hit me up let me know what’s good…

Happy Beat Making To All!~

Native Instruments Maschine Tutorial 1: Work Flow

Posted by Ms.Tris On June - 2 - 2010

What’s Up All! Not as early as I would have liked to get started, but I’m feeling great. I’ll be online tomorrow morning for live help. I really didn’t know you all enjoyed the feature this much. :-) yaay! Thanks to all who have been participating, and being patient for answers. I will try to log on more for live help.

Also those who followed me on twitter and facebook, hit me up sometimes let’s network…

Unwrapping MASCHINE

I was talking with a “#teammaschine” user who frequents MsTrisMusic.Com. He sparked the fire for me to do my 1st Maschine Tutorial post. Shouts out to @MrIIXI for this one, and the term ” teammaschine” :-)

If you haven’t had the chance to meet Native Instruments Maschine, the following video will give you the basic idea of what the fuss is about:
NI Maschine: Introduction

I got my Maschine in March. I have been really inspired to work on beats with it. I think I told you I heard about Maschine, then watched a few videos before making a decision to dip into my Roland Fantom money, and purchase one. You can read my introduction to Maschine here: MsTrisMusic NI Maschine.

Out of the box it was easy to get started. If you have used Fl Studio, Reason, Mpc, or other Daws to make beats, Maschine has all the basic features: There is a piano roll, pattern mode, pad mode, step sequencer, and more. The thing that’s a little different is Maschine uses “Scenes” to set up your song. For me, that was the only “uh-oh” moment.

The suggested work flow is to make several patterns, then place them in scenes arranging them how you wish. Sounds easy enough, but when I sat down to make a complete song it took a little thought.

I finally figured out the best and fasted way for me to get started. This tutorial will deal with Maschine Stand Alone installation.( I will do another post later this month with full Reaper routing). I will be using all Maschine included sounds for tutorial purposes. This is not a beat making tutorial, but one showing my way of beat creating, and arranging on Maschine using patterns and scenes

I load up Maschine, and load a drumkit into “Group A (808 Southern Kit)”, and a few sounds into “Group B”;

Next I’ll start with a 8 bar melody or drums in pattern “A1″. The cool thing about Maschine is each kit has some preset patterns to get you working quickly. I like this particular pattern for the 808 Southern kit so I’ll use it to keep rolling with the tutorial. This pattern will go in “Scene 1″ :

808 drum pattern
This is 1/2 or 8 bars of verse 1.

2 Years Strong! Live Help All Day

Posted by Ms.Tris On May - 27 - 2010

WOW .. MsTrisMusic.Com is officially 2 years new :-) .. What a year we’ve had. There were a lot of kinks to work through in the 2nd year. The site was down twice, and I had to change my entire theme. I lost some visits in the process, as well as a sponsor or two. This post will update you on the latest happenings:
I think I mentioned I was getting a new puppy…well I winded up getting two. I love my lil puppies :Quick cellphone pic of Zsa Zsa and GiGi(puppybear):

This is my first try at a little logo thingy..lol I like it so far. I can draw, but I admit I’m no photoshop expert (yet ;-) )… If any one out there does graphic design and can help tighten this up let me know…

I learned so much about music and blogging. I also learned how to better manage my time. As music projects rolled in, I had less and less time to post. There were a few days I got very frustrated about my site issues, and I can’t post if I’m not inspired to write. With all this I still press on.. :-)

Going through the site the last few months I noticed a lot of things that I need to tighten up. I am spending the entire day online, right here at MsTrisMusic.Com. I’ll be fixing category issues, working on adding thumbnails to the sidebar widgets, and much more. This means I will be available for Live Help as well.
easy to use: edit user name, type your message, and I will respond as soon as possible. Today 12:30pm-7pm EST

Last year I did a full day of celebrating. Under the circumstances :( I’ll have to do it different this year. I still have producers and artist to feature, free sounds, and more that are well overdue. I’ve come up with a little schedule:

Today I’ll post what I can while working behind the scenes. The weekend (Fri-Mon.) will be spent with family for the holiday, and Tues-Thursday we’ll get to the bulk of the goodies.

I definitely plan on year 3 being better. In order for that to happen, I must continue to adjust the site properly.

So as I thank GOD for the learning experience, and continuation, I would also like to thank YOU all for reading and going through the technical storms with me…I truly value your support and comments!

Much Love!

MsTrisMusic.Com Celebrates 1Yr!

Posted by Ms.Tris On May - 29 - 2009

happy-annivesary

Good morning to all! Yes I am happy to announce that the site has been going strong for 1 full year May 30th! My initial post was 4-26-08. Some of you remember the old blue site…
screen-shot1

I changed the design and officially moved the site here on Bluehost May 30th so the official celebration will be that date :

I’d like to thank you all for your support, comments, and input. You helped make the site a success!

When I first started posting I wasn’t doing much on the production side. Since then music business has picked up, and is now back to full speed.

I will continue to post things as I learn along the way. I never knew how much this site would add to my musical knowledge. Your questions and comments helped lead me deeper into engineering and music theory. I’ve also gained better knowledge of hardware and software. I am currently able to take my production from humble start to amazing finish; composing, mixing, and recording vocals.

I will be logging in on and off over the next few days for special live help. I’ll also throw in a few surprise giveaways. Be sure to stop in when you can between Friday and Sunday. I’d like to have some fun with the online party, so I’ll post some cool finds, and some off topic stuff. I usually don’t post on weekends, but for the special occasion I will!
It’s been an amazing first year..I love you all for helping! Lets make year two even more exciting!

Happy MUSIC PRODUCTION, HIP HOP and LIFE to All!

About AB-ROCK
Often described as what Hip-Hop would be, when it grows up, AbRock has been steadily rocking crowds in the MD/DC Mid Atlantic region for the last 5 years. A product of the late 90s Baltimore Hip hop scene, the Nigerian emcee burst into the spotlight with his 2003 debut album Declaration of Independence.

A well balanced lyricist, AbRock has competed in various local and national showcases such as The Source Unsigned Hype and Blaze1 Battle. He also recently won the StyleWarz Battle and took 2nd Place in the Okayplayers Foreign Exchange Remix competition couple months later. Having earned a reputation among his peers and fans as a strong performer with the ability to rock crowds, Ab has shared stages with independent and national heavyweights such as Fertile Ground, 5thL, Poemcees, Akrobatic, Zion I, Black Sheep, Sadat X, and others.

Influenced musically by hip hop contemporaries Jay-Z, Pharaoh Monch , Talib Kweli, Common, Nas etc. AbRock developed the perfect balance between battle and creative emcee. His in-depth understanding of songwriting allows for songs with strong hooks, attention grabbing lyrics, an topics often ranging from social commentary, introspective self reflections, all the way to feel good party anthems. A firm believer of music as a soundtrack to life, AbRock is currently promoting on his sophomore album aptly named the mid MidLife Crisis.
