Happy Friday! ..Much to do today before a fun weekend….beats, beats, and more beats..:)

I have everything connected to my pc now. All my hardware and software are synced fairly well. I am still fiddling with a few things. I have been using Native Instruments Maschine for 85% of my beats this year. I absolutely love it, and the work flow is a breeze. The thing is, I also love Fl Studio. The mixer in Fl Studio is my favorite. What I’d eventually like to do is use both Maschine and Fl Studio together. This way I can do a better mix of my Maschine beats using Fl Studio’s mixer.

The first problem I ran into was getting Fl Studio to detect Maschine as a plugin. On My Windows 7 system the file path to Fl Studio plugins looks like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Image-Line\FL Studio 10\Plugins\VST

I had to copy the Maschine.dll file into the Fl Studio 10\Plugins\VST Folder.(NOTE: I did not move the original Maschine.dll but I just made a COPY)

Once Fl Studio detected Maschine, I added a Machine Channel. I used the plug in wrapper to automap Maschine’s outputs. I got to Maschine’s wrapper by clicking the left hand menu and selecting “PROCESSING”;

Next I set up “Group A” outs from Maschine to 15 Fl Studio Mixer Channels.( NOTE:”OUT 1″ on Maschine will be assigned to Fl Studio’s Master Channel in the mixer)
This means I will have to assign my Maschine”outs” starting at “OUT 2″.

For example, in my Maschine Group A, I loaded the 808 Southern Kit. I send the 1st Instrument to “OUT 2″:

I continue to assign the other Maschine outs to 14 mixer channels in Fl Studio…Snare808= OUT 3…ClosedHH= OUT 4 and so on.

It took a few steps, and I’ve set up a template (.FLP file) if you’d like to have it:

Keep in mind this is a basic template for 16 outs. I am still trying to figure out assigning channels manually. This way I’d be able to add more than one Maschine instance, which would allow more outs. (If you know how to do this please help …)

Extended Patterns Across Two Screens

WOW ..it’s so nice out today. I’m feeling very inspired. This is great because the sun won’t temp me to hit the streets lol..

I have been doing a lot more recording this year. Engineering is becoming more and more clear to me. Now that I can get some decent recordings done, I need to focus on vocal mixing. I’ve done so many post on mixing the beats, but not much on the other 50%, the vocals.

Here is a brand new Fl Studio Guru video which explains a few things about vocal mixing.

If you don’t use Fl Studio, all the tips can be used in the DAW of your choice. Just use the plugins and editors you have to accomplish the same effects. It’s good to watch videos, and read post even if you don’t have the exact software. I’m always sharing “general techniques”, along with “unique to the software” specifics

Hey all! Just stopping in while finishing up a few projects.. I needed a little break from mixing…

If you frequent soundclick and check the charts you’ve heard either Vybe Beatz, Superstar O, or Johnny Juliano at #1 forever. I really like their music. The first thing I noticed was the mix. The hard hitting kicks, and the quality sounds lovely on my end. I came across a few threads online about the crew of producers, then a link to a ustream.
This video isn’t a tutorial, just a stream of work in progress. (If I’m not mistaken Superstar O is shown here while talking to Vybe):

People will argue left and right about Fl Studio sounding professional. I think Vybe, Superstar O, and Team Hits proves it’s not what you use that makes a difference. You have to have the talent and be able to mix well. I am not sure of all the equipment Team Hits uses, but you can see Fl Studio is in the lineup.

From what I read there are three producers that make up Team Hits

I personally use several different pieces of hardware and software, but Fl Studio has been around since 2002. Keep focusing on the sounds you choose,and mix to the Fl users, because it’s a great program.

Good morning all! What a rainy week we’re having on the east coast ..can’t complain because it makes it easy to work inside..

I’ve been using Native Instruments Maschine all week. I have it as a plug in inside Reaper. It’s a cool set up, and I am almost ready to do Maschine tutorials.

I have my template set. When I open Reaper, I load a template that has two Maschine Vsts, Kore Player, and Fl Studio. I really love the work flow now. The thing is I’d also love a few of Reason’s sound modules. The Malstrom, Subtracktor, Nnxt, and Dr.Rex would really complete my set up.

I have never gotten Reason to Rewire to any Daw without doing a search. I guess it’s time to really understand how to do this. I’ll need to look at a few videos so I can remember the steps needed to add Reason.

Well Well the week is almost over .. I had a productive one I must say. Let’s get right back to it. This is a continuation from yesterdays:

Fl Studio 9.1:Club Banger Tutorial Part 1

I’ve started my beat with:
basic drum pattern, added a “lead” melody, added some effects, some percussion/ sound fx additions, and breaks to the drums.

Today I’m going to continue building the track starting with an additional melody which really flows in an opposite direction than the first. I am using the same notes F,G,G# and C * * from yesterday.

This melody will be a “counter melody”. It will play at the same time as the main melody, but be more as an addition which I can vary through the verses:

Good morning to all. I had plenty rest last night and I know I’ll get about 3 beats done this morning. It’s going to be a sunny 70 degree day, I’ll definitely work hard for a few hours, then enjoy a little sunshine

I am excited to check out all the new features in Fl Studio 9.1. There are a lot of updates in this version. I was thinking, wow! they could have named this update Fl Studio 10. They’ve added a cool new Synth called “Harmless”, bigger mixer view, better browser features, and so much more.

A while back Flstudio.image-line.com started a new tutorial series by The Fl Studio Guru. He gives tons of tips that are quick and to the point. With this release he’s done a nice video featuring the top ten additions:
