Excerpts from Wyclef’s statement taken from the website:
“Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced.
The magnitude 7.0 earthquake – and several very strong aftershocks – struck only 10 miles from Port-au-Prince……
…..Many people have already reached out to see what they can do right now. We are asking those interested to please do one of two things: Either you can use your cell phone to text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill), or you can click here to DONATE.
Thank you,

Talk about a great way to kick things off with the Showcase! I received and email from King The Producer in June. I hit him back, he followed up and WOW! Not only did he send great music, but he sent a wonderful bio along with links and pictures. Since he is the very first, and did such an excellent job. He’ll be featured on the home gallery, as well as showcased!
Kings composed beats and scores have a great range as far as genre.I listened to tracks with a dirty south style to the newer pop-hop type, and even some Jazzy hiphop. I noticed that King implements synths in many of his songs. Listen how he uses sounds which are popular today, yet he has tweaked them to fit his style.
Kings work with the chord progressions stand out especially when he uses brass! Nice melodies, nice percussion use as well…wonderful work King!
Here is the Music Player. You need to installl flash player to show this cool thing!

Hello all…hope music is keeping you busy!

It’s all about the infamous fruit! Just as we get version 8 down, Image-Line has released Fl Studio 9. WOW! is what I have to say just from looking at the pictures:
I installed it this morning so I haven’t had a chance to really get into all the new features yet. It looks like an amazing update. Sure to be the best one yet!
I am already interested in the playlist additions. They have added a “Track View” which will allow you to use the playlist as a sequencer. This means Fl is becoming more and more like Reaper, Sonar, Cubase, and Protools.

Hey All! I’ve been on a mini vacation in AC. Boy was it fun…Now it’s back to much work.
Please remember sometime in the near future I’ll be changing the site design. I am hoping it will go super smooth with little down time.
I have seen some talented young musicians on the net. This is the first time I have heard classic hiphop beats from anyone under 14.
Vohn has already released a few cd’s for artist to download and select beats to purchase. Here is one of his cd covers from VohnBeatz Myspace page, be sure to stop by for more music and videos:

Good morning all! Ready to roll …Hope all has been well with you and the beats are flowing.

So many questions come to mind about mixing. Where do you start, how do you know what effects to add etc. There are no set rules to mixing, but there are tips that will help you tremendously through out the process.
I was one who always allowed the engineer to mix. A professional engineer who has studied the area of sound frequencies and mixing, has a trained ear. He or she may notice things in music that the producer or beat maker may not.
A professional engineer will know the frequency range of a kick drum, snare, instruments, and vocals. I’m learning that this is essential to achieve a great mix.
This also reminds me that EQ may be one of the most important plugins to learn. Now that I have advanced into engineering..yaay! I am doing a lot of study on eq and various plugins. We will eventually cover my favorites, but I think this is the best place to start when beginning to mix.
Today I’ll post few videos I found that cover frequency and Eq..
I did a post all about sound frequency here A Look At Sound Frequency. I suggest taking a quick look for review, then watch the videos. Repetition is a great way to commit music techniques to memory.
..now on to the vids…
