Native Instruments Maschine

Posted by Ms.Tris On March - 22 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

I was really saving up for the Roland Fantom G Workstation. During the time my site was down, my trusty Asr-10 would not boot. I have had that keyboard for over 10 years 🙁 . When change comes sometimes you just have to go with the flow. I decided to dip into my Fantom money and buy an Edirol Midi Controller, a new KRK Rokit 5 monitor to replace a broken one, and a motu usb midi interface.

Before going to Guitar Center, I stumbled upon a few videos on NI Maschine. I was interested in this, but never looked into it further. After two days of researching and reading. I was completely sold.

I began to think of all the possibilities. For 1 third of the price of a Fantom, I could use Maschine, and as many sounds as I have on my hard drive. I took a look around my studio and thought long and hard about my set up. Where am I going to put another piece of large hardware?

I have mentioned how much I enjoy using hardware and software together. I finally understand midi connections etc. I found out that I could use Maschine to control vst instruments in Reaper through proper midi settings. This was the cherry on top for me!

I purchased Maschine and I love it. I’ve only been able to work on music a couple days in two weeks. I made 3 beats using Maschine within those 2 days. It was real easy to get started, something I was hoping to achieve with the Fantom. The greatest thing for me is no delay when playing melodies in real time. The software can be controlled from the hardware unit, with basically no latency.

There are a few things that could be improved. Another plus is Native Instruments can improve Maschine by updating the software. expect many tutorials on Maschine here once I really get started 🙂

Here are a few videos so you can see why I’m so excited:

Update: New Theme

Posted by Ms.Tris On March - 22 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Woo Hoo how are all of you? We are back up and running with a new theme. I know some of you probably thought you landed on the wrong site this morn. Well I am so happy that MsTrisMusic.Com is back on track.

I am still editing the sizes of pictures and adding a few graphic upgrades today. I like this theme even better than the last. I will be talking to the developer to check about getting this one done in an exclusive design. That won’t be until later on. I have to make sure this works with wordpress updates first.

So far so good. If you get to a post that has pictures overlapping, please know I am going through 301 post 1 by 1 to fix this issue.

Thanks for your support and patience during down time..much love.
P.S. I will be answering all comments between now and Wednesday..

Okay! …Work Around While Fixing The Site

Posted by Ms.Tris On March - 21 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Hey all it’s so sunny here today..but guess where I am? STUCK here at the pc trying to fix my site lol. It’s been a very hard week. I don’t know if someone hacked the site or what. There is great news though 🙂 as you can see I didn’t lose my post.

I know I’ve spent at least 60 hours this week alone trying to figure out whats going on. I am no expert at coding, but I think I found a decent fix for a while. It will take even more hours to get all my links back in place. I will definitely be changing the design and theme over the next few weeks.

I loved the layout of the site you are all used to. I mentioned before that eventually I’d have to change it due to the themes developer ceasing updates. I think it’s best to do it now.

We’ve had a rocky year huh? Don’t worry I will be back in full swing..bigger and better than before.

For those waiting on features, you are still in the line up. As soon as I get everything going I’ll get your music heard.

Ok so get back to reading the post you love..welcome new readers! I am off to coding again..stay tuned because I’ll keep you posted..

Galactic Ya Ka May

Posted by Ms.Tris Beats On February - 16 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Hey all…hope things are going wonderful. Today I feel free as a bird. We got a little more snow, but we can get out! The streets are lined with a bunch of snow mountains. The actual pavement is clear in most areas finally.

I have a lot to do here during the rest of the month. I have several features lined up, and a few nice tutorials ready to roll. I am excited about some music moves I’ll be making soon. You know I’ll keep you up to date.

I’ve had a lot of time to check out videos and read during the two blizzards. I stumbled across some cool music coming out of New Orleans.

Galactic is a mixture of many genres that give life to the N.O. music scene. I always imagined what it’s like to live in such music filled atmosphere.

This is a short intro to Glactic Ya Ka May. I enjoyed watching this and I’m sure many of you will too..

Reaper: Shortcuts, Intro, UI

Posted by Ms.Tris Beats On February - 3 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Hey all! How are you today? We got snow again last night. I thought it would be more but it’s not too bad outside as far as driving. I have a few graphic sessions later. I’m still adjusting the lab, moving out old pc, dusting, and checking out some videos while I do.

Reaper is my DAW of choice right now. I’m loving the ease of use, and the sound I’m getting from it. The video I’m posting next has shown me some cool shortcuts and functions I hadn’t used.

If you are thinking about getting or already using Reaper this is a must see to easily learn a few tips.

Roland Fantom G In Action

Posted by Ms.Tris Beats On January - 28 - 20102 COMMENTS

Hey all..did you see the site going crazy over the last few days… I tell ya, being a webmaster is a lot of work sometimes.. but of course you are worth every bit 🙂

Guess what?… I’m not sure if I like the touch pc for music yet lol. I think it’s me getting used to mixing in the digital domain. I have to reset levels and Daw templates etc. You’ll notice when you mix, your ears and eyes get trained to your mixing environment quickly. Once you change things , you have to start fresh…I’ll keep you posted…

I am happy that the site is back up.. so let’s get to some music goodies..

I will get a Roland Fantom G6 or G7 this year (Lady GaGa Keyboard Player Pete Kuzma & The Fantom-G

Roland Fantom-G: breaking beats
This isn’t a hiphop video, but it shows briefly how to chop a sample on the fantom

Fantom-G: Multisample Sounds From Other Keyboards
I think I posted this before or something similar, but I needed a reminder…

Awesome workstation for sure..expect more on the Roland Fantom this year. This is a good thing to do for any new equipment you plan to purchase. By the time you get it, you’ll be up and running faster from watching videos or reading info.
