Waves Audio Webinars +L2 Optimize Audio Tutorial

Posted by Ms.Tris On December - 14 - 2011

Hey Hey All! What’s goodie with you? Everything is going as planned with school, mixing, and beats on my end. (ALL A’s so far woo hoo)….I’m in super learn mode so I thought it would be great to share some of stuff I’m finding as far as tips, tutorials, and webinars(web based seminars).

If you don’t have any Waves Bundles they have released a few solo plugins at a reasonable price this year. I had the chance to give them a test run, and I think the Platinum/Complete collection is one of the most impressive plug in bundles ever. I was blown away by a few like the L2, and L316 Maximizers. I hear the entire bundle is pretty expensive, so I may settle for one of the older bundle packages instead.

Here’s a very informative video about limiting and optimizing audio using Waves L2:

Waves is offering free Webinars on several plug ins and mix techniques. Waves is covering EQ, Compression, Limiting and more. The webinars are GOLDEN!! I’ve cleared time for a couple so far and I learned so much. Sign up and hope to see you there 🙂

Hey hey all. I’m rolling with The Producers Union content starting today. I will be showcasing, featuring, and sharing info from fellow members.

Kicking off the great run is DjKevWest. Kev and I used to be on RapMusic.com around the same time.. ..(OH MY almost 10 yrs I’ve known him)..He’s shared many tips with me on the forums. He is sick with the soul samples and has so much knowledge about production. He is also another producer that helped me get my game proper on the technical side!

Moving Native Instruments Sample Content or Maschine Directory

Posted by Ms.Tris On October - 19 - 2011

Quick Update:*Waving* HHheeey You! What’s been up? I had to handle the school business over the last 2 weeks. Yes, I will finally finish my degree after a long time away from college. I had a hard time deciding what my major would be. I already have two years in communications, with a secondary in Art. I know some are surprised, but I didn’t go with music as my 1st choice. I am really into the whole web atmosphere, as well as music. I will study Web Design and Interactive Media at Art Institute, and take a few course through point Blank Music Production School. I figured this is a win win for all of us. I’ll be able to upgrade my site, help you with yours, makes apps, and do my music..woo hoo words can’t describe how happy I am today…Expect wonderful changes here as I learn..:)……….

I’ve been meaning to share this with you since I upgraded to Maschine 1.7…..
I had a time loading 1.7, as well as moving my Kore 2 content. I installed Maschine on my second hard drive instead of main c drive. The second drive failed. Later i re-installed on the main drive. NI suggest you load everything on one drive (the c drive), but for some, it may be better to place content on different drive. If you move content after initial installation (ex:second drive fails etc.),your software will search 1st database location.

In my case, when it came time to upgrade, the software searched for the “D:” drive, which I no longer had connected. No matter what I tried I got the error:\”invalid drive d\”. Along with upgrading Maschine, I also needed to move my Kore Player 2 Sample Content.

There are two ways to fix this.

1.Replace faulty drive, and do a new install maschine/content, making sure the drive letter stays the same as before.

2.Install Maschine or Content on “C:” .Change the directory path by going to the Windows registry by typing “regedit” in the Search bar located in the
start menu.
From here….

(For Maschine)
Navigate to :
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Maschine
Make sure the “InstallDir” key is correct, and if not modify it to reflect the
correct path of the Maschine.(or drive installed Maschine)

For other NI Software Sample Content
Navigate to:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NativeInstruments\Kore 2\Kore 2 Sample Content\
Make sure “ContentDir” key is correct, and if not modify it to reflect correct path of Sample Content on your C: drive. (or which ever drive u placed content)

Here is what my corrected “ContentDir” path looks like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Native Instruments\Kore 2\Kore 2 Sample Content\

Now everything is working smooth…I know this is a little techy, so if you have any questions hit me up in the comment section…

How To Raise and Tilt Native Instruments Maschine

Posted by Ms.Tris On September - 14 - 2011

Great Evening To Ya!Been out and about today handling family and dog biz..back at it with a quick tip…:)

I posted about NI Maschine customization a few weeks ago. I have been meaning to give you my lil option as well. I am always tinkering with things, and I am sort of a build it yourself type of producer. I’ve done my make shift booth, and my work desk shelves. In a blink of an eye, I have raised Maschine efficiently… 🙂

What You will need:
Two Clamps w/rubber tips so maschine won’t slide
1 2x2X5 Wood Block (approximate height)
Maschine:)

Bamm!

You can get the clamps through my affiliate link at amazon(which helps support the site):

or your local walmart, or hardware store. The lumber is from Leow’s hardware store, cost about $2.00 USD. I had them cut a long piece into small 5 inch blocks.

With a few adjustments of the distance between clamps, it’s a very sturdy work around until you order your custom maschine plates:

Sonar X1 Producer Edition

Posted by Ms.Tris On September - 8 - 2011

Welcome back ! ;-)…

I am wondering how I never heard of this, and it’s been out since 2010..lol. I guess some things escape the “google queen” after all. Shout out to Gee Wiz for being the king of net marketing and research!

I always liked Sonar, but for me Reaper was easier to use than older versions. There are a few programs I think I will always use..Fl Studio, Adobe Audition, and Reaper. They all do different things which I love. My problem is pinpointing one program that I will master, on my quest to be a great engineer. This is why I post about so many DAWS. I am still trying to find the “sweet spot”, and get the best possible sound out of my set up. In addition, you all know I need the visuals to be easy enough on the eye, as well as flashy enough to make want to use it..lol. I’ve got the beat making aspect squared away, now onto a favorite “mixing” program.

Sometimes updates don’t impress me much, but this edition of Cakewalks Sonar has been revamped in such an efficient way. The toolbar is amazing, and there are so many ways to layout the workspace. The sound quality is super! Even on those hard to mix kicks and bass… Hmnn, I am thinking this may be the one I’ll use for a while..gonna give it a test run this and next month…

There are three versions of X1 according to your needs. Check out the official site to find more info:

Anyone using this as your main DAW? What do you like about it that sets it appart form others?…

How To Automate Fx On Native Instruments Maschine

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 13 - 2011

What’s good today?.. I am smiling, working, in the lab rockin actually 🙂

I am about to mix and send a beat that is sounding so perfect straight from maschine. Being able to mix inside the box with vst plugins helps so much. I exported the beat and after listening, decided I wanted to dive into automation for the intro.

The NI video tutorial got me off and running in a second..it was almost a “duh” moment…lol
