Next Screen Recorder Test and A Free Sample To Chop

What’s up all…back at it with the screen recorders.. I’ve tried 2 so far. Here’s the third one, ” My Screen Recorder” and I think this one has knocked out the last one.

I’m making a beat today using Fl Slicer. This first video is the actual loop of the sample in Fl Studio. I loaded up an FPC, Fl Keys, Bass, and used the Fl Soundfont Player with “Cadenza Strings” Soundfont.The steps I took to make the sample=
I used an FPC midi loop for the drums to have a basic rhythm at 85 BPM
I played a chord progression A minor, G Major and F Major. Then I added a bassline, and some strings.

Now I have a loop to chop in the slicer. Here’s the loop for those who want to chop and make something with it…

and here’s how I am starting the actual beat…you’ll see me fiddle with the pitch, and even an idea for a bassline…and at the end I hit the sweet spot where I like the pitch of the sample…. this is pretty loud so adjust your monitors…

Fl Studio Slayer In Action

Heres a super short video on the Fl Studio Slayer…requested by Rooky_Beater…. my weekend time was limited.. but I didn’t forget cha Rooky 🙂 There are several ways to make a melody with the slayer. You can use a midi controller, your typing keyboard, or draw in your melody. Remember the slayer vst is meant to emulate a real guitar. So the concept is to play your melody using 6 strings, unlike a piano where you may be playing 4 or more keys at once.

You can see in the video, he’s using his typing keyboard to make a riff with the Fl Slayer 2. You can also draw in your melody in the piano roll view. Right click on the “Slayer” channel and select piano roll

A good way to understand the full potential of the slayer is to learn a little about guitar scales.
Heres a great site with some beginner lessons on guitar. ABC Learn Guitar . You will have to use your slayer like a real guitar when following the lessons.

Trying Out Screen Recording

The puppy is napping, and I’ve almost completed two beats. I’m doing some trial and era with a few screen recorders… I said I’d post some as I go things today…so here’s the first attempt.. there are no subtitles nor text…lol just me fiddling with a mix on one of the beats.

The recorder I’m using today is ” Auto Screen Recorder”

What I’m Doing…Making Beats, and Puppy Sitting :-)

This morning I’m up early. I’ve been puppy sitting for a couple days… and he’s a cutey. It’s my cousins little Shih Tzu and looks similar to this

He’s been adorable the whole time… he pees a lot though :-)….

Well I have several projects on the way. Today I’ll be doing a couple beats for some pioneers of Hip Hop. This opportunity is an honor. Easy Tee one of the original members of “The Dream Team” hit me up for some new heat. It’s 6:43 am, and I’ve fed puppy… I’m gonna play with him a while, then get started. I’ll post up some pictures of how I’m doing on the tracks through out the day…
I felt like doing something different with todays posts.

Fl Studio: Knockin Kicks

Yesterday I was mixing a beat in Fl Studio 8, and when I exported the file, I noticed the kicks on the hook were knocking hard. I replayed the beat and I couldn’t figure out what I did to the kicks that made them sound great. I went back to fl Studio and I noticed I had 2 drum patterns going through out the hooks by mistake. This mistake turned out to be a treasure. I tried this again on a new beat and I’m super happy with this technique.

When you load up Fl Studio, add a sampler channel, the default “attack time” setting is slightly delayed. I want my kick attack time to be absolute, and hit as soon as possible. The first thing I do is adjust the attack time on kicks,snares, and all instruments I want to remove the attack delay.

In the image above, you can see the peaks are slightly to the right. I adjust the “ATT” by turning the knob all the left.
