YYo!(yes mostly slang for this post)… I am so amped! My musical sister Reina Williams did her thang at the Xfactor NJ auditions!!! I can hardly type the post so much excitement in the air. I have known, learned from, worked with, cracked jokes with, been a fan of Reina’s music for years…shucks she was even teaching me guitar on this lil Walmart toy thingy I bought…lol…. Needless to say I am happy to see this happen to such a deserving musician and home girl!…

Reina’s bio is very impressive. I’ll just touch on a few of her many talents. She is a producer, engineer, guitarist, and songwriter. She also sings, raps and performs her material around the country. She’s had plenty placements in television and film. I wouldn’t be surprised if she pops up on the big screen in the future.
This is the “cell phone” video of the audition..it’s not clear at all, but you will surely get the whole scoop of the set…
Did you hear what LA Reid and Simmon said..woohoo!..
Did you see the views on that in a week?..Niiice!
Now the only thing we are wondering is why would Fox not air this great audition?.. Hopefully they are not discriminating Reina’s material..?..! …
Anywho’s I support great music period. I had to jump on the street team ….
Please take a listen to more of Reina’s Music, she’s on her way to big things.:
Here is my favorite Reina Williams tracks: Let It Flow…love this one!
P.S. ..she’s got a prize filled street team challenge going on…so you all can actually help my campaign by taking a listen to her…..:)..Let’s GgO!
Wonderful morning to you! My work week is getting started today. I’ve been handling a few other business matters, and I’m excited to get back on the music.
I am also happy to write about the new goodies I am using. I can never have too many drumkits. I’ve come across many over the years, and have even made my own. As I advance to the engineering side of music, I know it’s all about frequencies! When I find the perfect kit which is has every wav sound eq’d, and sitting within the right frequency range, I am pleased.
I have posted about an engineer I heard about a couple years ago, Mike Chav. Mike has mixed, engineered, produced, tracked, and played guitar on many of my favorite projects. His list of credits is extensive. Here are a few projects he’s been involved in: Snoop Dogg – “Heartbreaker”
Mixing Stat Quo – “Penthouse Condo”
Producer w/ Boi-1da, Guitar Erykah Badu – “New Amerykah Pt 2: Return of the Ankh”
Executive Producer, Engineer, Tracking, Mixing Erykah Badu – “New Amerykah Pt 1:4th World War”
Executive Producer, Engineer, Tracking, Mixing Guilty Simpson – “Ode to the Ghetto”

Engineer The Game – “Around The World (feat. Jamie Foxx” off of “The Doctors Advocate”
Engineer, Production, Additional Mixing
Wow! That’s past impressive. Recently Mike has branched into tutorials, and (drumroll please) DRUMKITS . Talk about a break for thousands of producers like me/us. Kits straight from an industry engineer. This is no hand me down, third party, mp3 crap either. The kit’s include high quality, ready to go wav files, hand picked, and mixed by Mike with contributions from other industry producers.
This is the first post of an ongoing category. I am starting with “Drum Arsenal Vol. 1 :Swiss Army Kit”. Site description:
The Drum Arsenal Vol. 1 features 97 high quality wavs of exclusive samples created by Mike Chav, for MikeChav.com. This collection of sounds has been created with the approach of a producer and the technical skill of an engineer, using the highest quality analog and digital signal processing. Creativity and fidelity is paramount here. We do not follow the trends, we make them!
This package includes:
• Kicks and Booms
• Snares and Claps
• Hats, Shakers and Cymbals
• Toms, Percussion and FX
*(THESE SOUNDS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT IS IN THE PROMO KIT!)
Start your songs and beats off right, replace drums in existing material – surpass the “industry standard”!!!
Here is a link to the FREE Promotional Kit to get you started: Mike Chav Welcome Back Promo Kit
Check out my tester to hear a few of the included drum sounds. I have left the percussion levels up so you can hear how crystal clear, and precisely eq’d they are. This is straight from Maschine no extra plug ins. (*piano sample not included in kit and used only for demonstration purposes*):

Although I made a quick hiphop beat, you can tell this kit could easily be a “go to kit” for various genres including rock,or pop. “Drum Arsenal Vol. 1 :Swiss Army Kit”
Nice!
Happy Beat Making To All!`
Pz Til Later..
Great Evening To Ya!Been out and about today handling family and dog biz..back at it with a quick tip…:)
I posted about NI Maschine customization a few weeks ago. I have been meaning to give you my lil option as well. I am always tinkering with things, and I am sort of a build it yourself type of producer. I’ve done my make shift booth, and my work desk shelves. In a blink of an eye, I have raised Maschine efficiently…
What You will need:
Two Clamps w/rubber tips so maschine won’t slide
1 2x2X5 Wood Block (approximate height)
Maschine:)
Bamm!
You can get the clamps through my affiliate link at amazon(which helps support the site):
or your local walmart, or hardware store. The lumber is from Leow’s hardware store, cost about $2.00 USD. I had them cut a long piece into small 5 inch blocks.
With a few adjustments of the distance between clamps, it’s a very sturdy work around until you order your custom maschine plates: Ni Custom Designs Post
I am really trying hard to get into more advanced composing. I’ve been reading, studying, and watching videos. Today I know a lot more, but still need to look at scales, and notes in my progressions……….WALLA and OOOH is all I have to say about this website…and Ooh once again…
This is a little advanced. You’ll need to know a few names of notes, some chords, and basic theory to use it. There are no pictures to show you notes on piano or instruments. I am sure it will still help you as you are learning theory.
There are several tools for musicians which are so precise! Scale Finder
Progression Analyser

Great morning to you! I’ve been up since 5 am..seems I can’t get rid of a cricket outside my window..lol. I know this is funny but, it sounds like the same one that’s been bothering me for a few years. Some believe they are good luck. Consider me the luckiest person on earth ..ha ha ..
I’m using the time to map out some things, and check out a documentary I’ve had booked marked. This has been out for a while actually. I never got a chance to see the entire show. Shout out to Adrain Haynes a member of The Producers Union, for sharing this gem wow!
I am wondering how I never heard of this, and it’s been out since 2010..lol. I guess some things escape the “google queen” after all. Shout out to Gee Wiz for being the king of net marketing and research!
I always liked Sonar, but for me Reaper was easier to use than older versions. There are a few programs I think I will always use..Fl Studio, Adobe Audition, and Reaper. They all do different things which I love. My problem is pinpointing one program that I will master, on my quest to be a great engineer. This is why I post about so many DAWS. I am still trying to find the “sweet spot”, and get the best possible sound out of my set up. In addition, you all know I need the visuals to be easy enough on the eye, as well as flashy enough to make want to use it..lol. I’ve got the beat making aspect squared away, now onto a favorite “mixing” program.
Sometimes updates don’t impress me much, but this edition of Cakewalks Sonar has been revamped in such an efficient way. The toolbar is amazing, and there are so many ways to layout the workspace. The sound quality is super! Even on those hard to mix kicks and bass… Hmnn, I am thinking this may be the one I’ll use for a while..gonna give it a test run this and next month…
There are three versions of X1 according to your needs. Check out the official site to find more info: Cakewalk Sonar X1
Anyone using this as your main DAW? What do you like about it that sets it appart form others?…
Hey Hey! I recently went to Borders for the closeout sale. I purchased a few books, and you know I went on the hunt for music theory stuff. I found an excellent guitar book! This has to be one of the most informative music books I have ever opened on the subject. There are tons of pictures. Plenty progressions, and scales explained. Loads of information about different genres of guitar like jazz, rock, and blues. It even covers changing strings, practice, and recording guitar. Brilliant read honestly…I really could go on for a long time and I’ve only had it two weeks.
Here are few pictures I took..and check out how thick it is :
