Please Vote For: A Beautiful Day

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 21 - 2010

Hey Hey all please vote for my cousins in the Six Flags Contest 🙂 they are out to become the next pop stars. This tune was written the last day of entry and made the cut.
They have been singing since they were tiny tots. We lost their mother, and my aunt Cheryl in 2003. I am viewing in tears of joy, seeing God’s work and creativity passed on to them. I know she is smiling in heaven as I am now…way to go girls! This really has inspired me to see a” Beautiful Day”

It only takes a second to vote, no sign ups or anything..here is the direct link:

Fl Studio 9 Tutorials: Beginner To Pro Series

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 21 - 2010

Hey You! What’s happening? Hope all is well on your end. It’s Wednesday already, the week is rolling by fast. I woke up this morning wanting to play PS3. You know I can’t do that with all the beats I have to make lol…pressing on… pressing on :)..

Woo Wee have I found a treasure for any Fl Studio users. ste1438 has taken tons of hours to create some of the most helpful Fl Studio videos I’ve seen on the net. There is something here for everyone as the title describes, Beginner To Pro!

I watched a couple, and although I consider myself an advanced Fl user, I learned something even in tutorial 1. They all are at least 20 minutes long. I bookmarked the page so I can go back when I have time. Here are the first and last that he’s posted so far:

Video 05 – FL Studio Tutorials Beginner to Pro

Like going to Fl Studio classes :)… remember go back when you can, this is great stuff! enjoy… ste1438 tutorials on youtube

Ni Maschine Meets Progressive Hip Hop: Mr.Invisible

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 16 - 2010

Hey Hey what’s good with you?… It’s Friiidaaay! Woo hoo.. but my weekend won’t start until later, I’m still over here working on a few things 🙂

You all know I am officially a “Maschine-Head”, it’s still fairly fresh on the scene, so there aren’t tons of videos out yet. Native Instruments released two yesterday. Both are from “Mr. Invisible” a progressive hip hop trio: Two emcees; Ill-use and Justin Aswell (both are producers), and a DJ; Marley. It’s my first time hearing about them so I’m gonna check them out on myspace in a few.

Mr.Invisible Jamming Live With Maschine

This is real cool… the tag team beat making is my favorite part… They are actually using two Maschine consoles for this shoot.

How To Make Chords From A Scale

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 15 - 2010

Good Morn to all! We are finally having clear weather today on the east coast. I have a little to business to handle later, it will be good to get out.

I am back on dirty south beats today before heading out. I have so many artist lined up, and I’m in the mood to compose some advanced chord progressions. I am understanding scales and key signatures, but I am still having problems making chords from scales.

For my first track this morning, I am looking in my books. So far I’ve come up with more progressions from studying a few different piano books. Here is one of my favorites “How To Write Songs On Keyboards”:

It’s become my go to book for chord help lately. I’d also like be able to make “advanced” progressions without the book. I found a great youtube channel with lessons on music theory.. Woo Hoo!

For me the lessons are easy to follow. She uses some traditional methods, as well as non traditional methods. The following video got me going in the right direction fast:

click “see all” and scroll through for music theory lessons…
Check out the whole series when you have time, and I’ll add more over the year..

I just think this is “dopeness” (remember we used to say that lol) .. But yeah this is great work. I love the way he leads us into the beat making process..riding down the Cali highways digging for samples….

I’m really feeling the tracks on his www.myspace.com/estabeats page. Take a listen, I’m sure your head will be boppin’ up and down 🙂 … the dude is sick with it!…

Fl Studio Guru:Vocal Mixing

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 1 - 2010

WOW ..it’s so nice out today. I’m feeling very inspired. This is great because the sun won’t temp me to hit the streets lol..

I have been doing a lot more recording this year. Engineering is becoming more and more clear to me. Now that I can get some decent recordings done, I need to focus on vocal mixing. I’ve done so many post on mixing the beats, but not much on the other 50%, the vocals.

Here is a brand new Fl Studio Guru video which explains a few things about vocal mixing.
Fl Studio Guru: Voca lMixing (Compression and Eq)

If you don’t use Fl Studio, all the tips can be used in the DAW of your choice. Just use the plugins and editors you have to accomplish the same effects. It’s good to watch videos, and read post even if you don’t have the exact software. I’m always sharing “general techniques”, along with “unique to the software” specifics 🙂

BET Awards 2010: My Favorites

Posted by Ms.Tris On June - 28 - 2010

Good Morning All! I had so much fun watching the BET 2010 Awards last night. My twitter timeline was hilarious the whole time lol.

I think this was one of the best years for the award show. They had a nice mix of hiphop, r&b, and even some gospel. I wanted to share some of my favorite performances:

P DIDDY DOES IT AGAIN! Dirty Money last night? Woo Wee I absolutely loved this segment. I already liked the song from when they performed it on American Idol…but today I had to go find the mp3!! Mr. Combs really knows how to entertain..
Dirty Money- Hello Goodmorning

The big talk of the night was Chris “Breezy’s” Micheal Jackson Tribute…. WOW!! He did an excellent job. He got so filled up at the end, that he could not even sing ” Man In The Mirror”. I am one who thinks, and feels deeply, so I can see how he got emotional. I know a lot of my friends are saying ” that was for promotion”..but I think his life issues came to a mental peak last night. If it was to get his career back in motion? It probably worked better than who ever conjured up the inappropriate idea expected..

Chris Brown MJ Tribute

Drake is a cool guy from all I’ve heard and seen of him. His performance last night was as I anticipated, flawless. He’s a smart artist. He seems as if he plans his moves wisely. So far they’ve worked like a charm 🙂

Drake ft Jeezy (Dake)

BET pulled a fast one throwing in a very nice performance from El Debarge. If I begin to explain how much The Debarge’s music has influenced my life, that’d be another whole post lol…. I will add that El Debarge was one of the first artist I “tried” to sample when I started producing…
El Debarge Medley

All the clips were presented by www.mrworldpremiere.net
He has almost all of them I think..check em out if you missed the show..
