How To Enhance A Snare Drum

Posted by Ms.Tris On September - 1 - 2010

Well Well Well I’m sure you’re saying :) … I’ve been on a roll with my other jobs lately. I went to Philadelphia last weekend. I was there doing video and photos for a wedding. It was very beautiful, and I even got to hang out with my cousin in Philly for a while.

I’ve also been clearing the way for classes. I wanted to start now, but I had to push it back a bit. It’s cool because I have a lot going on, and I’d like to finish all music projects first.

I am about to edit the wedding material. The video takes a very long time to upload to the pc. I could watch a little t.v while it’s loading…No way! let’s get to some music :)

I have talked so much about kick drums here. I can’t let you forget how important it is to have a cracking snare as well. Many producers don’t pay much attention to the snare. This is where you can add a little extra to your over all sound.

Beat Makers Documentary

Posted by Ms.Tris On August - 23 - 2010

Afternoon to ya! I’ve been doing some non-music projects over the last few days. Preparing to do photography and video for a wedding this weekend. I also had a chance to be with my family for a nice cook out Sunday. We had a wonderful time and the food was great :)

Today I am fiddling around with wires, trying to network a Windows 7 pc with a Windows Xp pc. So far so good, if not; I’ll have two set ups. One will be all digital w/ software, and the other will include hardware equipment.

You know me, I have to watch something, or have music going when I’m doing “under the desk” wire connections ..lol. I found a nice beat making documentary that I’m about to push play on. I know a lot of you will enjoy this, it’s more like a movie actually:

Mixing Tips:Kick Drum Tricks

Posted by Ms.Tris On August - 13 - 2010

The Ravens won last night..yaay .. I stayed up so late watching the NFL network. Some how I have energy this morning. I plan to work on drum patterns only today. I feel like coming up with something different, and out of the box.

I was working with the Redrum in Propellarheads Reason. I made a quick pattern, and sent each instrument to different lanes. I played both the pattern, and lanes together and really liked the way the kick sounds in the beat. Read the rest of this entry »

Kanye West’s First Ustream

Posted by Ms.Tris On August - 11 - 2010

Hey all… Who’s ready for some football? You all know I love my Ravens :) .. 1st preseason game is tomorrow night, so I’ve got much work to do today. I want to get some “game day” food, and be able to watch the game from start to finish ….woo hoo…

I got an email yesterday from Dynamic Producers. I had no idea “Kanyeezy” was doing ustream. He’s been taking over the net with post about his tweets. I’ve got love for Kanye, I respect his passion for music. I don’t like some of the things he does, but I give him props on the production tip. Over all I think he’s an interesting guy, when he tames the ego.. He explains a lot in this video…Thanks to Felisha Booker for the find..

He’s very open about his craft…a lot of artist hide so much. I think it’s good to share, because up coming artist can learn so much…

**Quick Ms.Tris Beats Update**
I am finally back on my beat grind. I can never tell when I’ll get busy with artist. This fall I plan to settle down a bit, and work on me. I am feeling so good about creating right now. I am in a different phase of my career as a producer, and need to reach some goals. Expect more beats to be added here, and on my soundclick page. I loaded a Club Beat this week, you can listen to it here:

Cakewalk Sonar 8 Webinar

Posted by Ms.Tris On August - 9 - 2010

What’s Up?.. I had a super, smashing, bangin’ birthday weekend :) … My family threw a party for me and we had a blast..The weather was so beautiful on Sat. perfect for all the fun.
I was rushing a little before, and left my lab a little messy..lol. I’m taking some time to get things organized, so I’m watching educational videos while I tidy.

I’ve been getting into Sonar a bit lately. It’s not as easy to use as Reaper, but you can surely achieve great mixes with it.
Here is a 35 minute webinar that Cakewalk released a couple years ago. I am listening to it as I type, and it is an excellent resource for Sonar users.

Contest: Win Native Instruments “Traktor Pro”

Posted by Ms.Tris On August - 4 - 2010

Wednesday..this week is going by so fast. I’m about to mix some vocals for my evening session. I had to check a few emails which had nice youtube links. After checking the links, I found a cool contest that I know one of us can win :)

Contest Info ( From Native Instruments On Youtube ):
In this spectacular quick mixing routine, DJ Shiftee juggles 35 tracks in 90 seconds! Use your classic hip hop knowledge to name all 35 tracks featured in their correct order (note that only 10 names are blurred out on the screen, so you can read 25 names from the deck details) for a chance to win a heavyweight TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO setup with the TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 DJ controller and additional colored vinyl.

Check out the competition over at www.skratchworx.com, and send your answers to wintraktor@native-instruments.com before August 31, 2010.

Please note that we will approve comments manually as posting excerpts of the tracklist is not allowed to make things fair for everyone.

Good Luck To All!
