Free Vst Downloads ll

Posted by Ms.Tris On June - 1 - 2010

Afternoon all… my weekend just ended. I slept a whole 10 hours after a bunch of cook outs with my family. I even hit the beach over the weekend. I took my puppies, they were so excited to see so many people… today it’s back to work….

I’m such a music software junky lol .. I like trying out new gadgets. There’s nothing like finding a bunch of freebies. Since we are celebrating 2yrs I want to share a link to some of the free VST instruments I’ve found over the last few months.

This site will have you loading up your hard drive. They’ve added sections of vsti’s with rating systems. You’ll be able to see which instruments people like most. I’ve tried a few so far, and everything works fine:

www.vst4free.com

You’ll need a Daw to host the vsts. If you need help getting them loaded just hit me up in the comment section… enjoy!

Links To A Couple Vst Instruments:Bass And Kore

Posted by Ms.Tris On March - 24 - 2009

Good Morning All. I’m already working hard on some club bangers. I found a couple nice Vst Instruments last night. I’m loading them in Reaper right after this post..:-)

The first one is fromDilliot2k.com
I’ve featured his tutorials before. He made a cool bass vst and has it available for download here:

Dilliot2k.com Bass Vst Scroll down the page and look for
Rsound Dillie Base

The next one is from Native Instruments. It’s called Kore. There is a Kore2 out now which cost around $800.00. Wow it must be loaded with sounds!

Dilliot actually mentioned this in one of his videos. From what I read you get about 300Mb of instruments in the free one. You can update by purchasing more. You will have to sign up for the link through email and register the software even though it’s free.. Here is a video that explains how to download and install for use in Fl Studio..

There are more videos on Kore and some tutorials from Savage Tutorials ** hit more on the youtube info section**

Get the Kore download here:

Native Instruments Free Kore Player

Let me know how you like these.. I am ready to hear what they sound like..

DSK Plugins: Yup! Worth Downloading :-)

Posted by Ms.Tris On October - 23 - 2008

Hey all.. I’m already busy busy this morning, which is good… Todays post was going to be completely about brass, by request. Once I went back to the DSK site where I got a FREE Brass Vst, I started checking out more plugins. I decided to just give DSK Music most of the shine today….

They have a great selection, and the DSK Brass works well enough. When you get free vst instruments you will most likely have to add a bit of eq and other effects to get the sound you want. For Brass vsts and soundfonts try adding a touch of Reverb to give it a “Chamber” sound, like a real Orchestra Horn Section. Also I’ve been playing around with loading seperate sounds and using my software to layer the instruments. For example:In Reason I may combine 5 NNXT modules loaded with a few trumpets, french horn, tuba, and a preset brass section. This gives a rich sounding Brass, much better than single instruments. To do this in Fl Studio I would have to use the “Layer” function, and layer a few Vsts or soundfont players.

You are gonna feel like it’s xmas if you don’t already have the Instruments DSK offers. I can’t wait to try the rest later:
www.dskmusic.com

There are few good soundfonts that have pretty decent brass. Here is the link to Sf2midi brass page. Try to find “Better Brass” there as well..

www.sf2midi.com

For those with a budget my favorite “for $$$” vst brass is included in the Edirol HQOR Orchestral:

Once you get all your Brass and other goodies, be sure to come back and use the chord progression tutorials. This will help you play some dramatic compositions using the sounds…

Sample Editing:Removing Loud Snares

Posted by Ms.Tris Beats On September - 22 - 2008

I have been in the mood to get off the Dirty South Beats for a while, and get deep down into some sample tracks. I had a session with Gee Wiz last week, he was showing me his unorthadox style of producing. We swapped some knowledge, and while he was here, I stumbled upon something great.

I always wondered how to filter loud snares and kicks from a sample. I have tried eq, and adding filters on the frequencies, but I could never get them quiet enough for my liking. I usually winded up masking them, adding a sound effect or additional snare over top.

The funny thing is, the answer was so simple, I had to chuckle to myself for not trying this before.
Take a listen to the smooth R&B crooning of Bobby Womacks ” I Don’t Wanna Be Hurt By Ya Love Again”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Before chopping this, I can hear some obvious things that need fixing.

1st step is adding some “Noise Reduction” to filter some of the “Hiss” or air that is loud:

I am using Adobe Audition which has an included plugin for this procedure. Here is a nice free editor, with a noise reduction plugin:Wavepad.
