Hey all… Who’s ready for some football? You all know I love my Ravens :).. 1st preseason game is tomorrow night, so I’ve got much work to do today. I want to get some “game day” food, and be able to watch the game from start to finish ….woo hoo…
I got an email yesterday from Dynamic Producers. I had no idea “Kanyeezy” was doing ustream. He’s been taking over the net with post about his tweets. I’ve got love for Kanye, I respect his passion for music. I don’t like some of the things he does, but I give him props on the production tip. Over all I think he’s an interesting guy, when he tames the ego.. He explains a lot in this video…Thanks to Felisha Booker for the find..
He’s very open about his craft…a lot of artist hide so much. I think it’s good to share, because up coming artist can learn so much…
**Quick Ms.Tris Beats Update**
I am finally back on my beat grind. I can never tell when I’ll get busy with artist. This fall I plan to settle down a bit, and work on me. I am feeling so good about creating right now. I am in a different phase of my career as a producer, and need to reach some goals. Expect more beats to be added here, and on my soundclick page. I loaded a Club Beat this week, you can listen to it here:
Happy Monday All! I have a lot of work to do, and a short work week. I have sessions, headed to Ravens Training Camp, and my birthday is Sat.. woo hoo very exciting times over here….
I hope you all are taking advantage of Twitter and Facebook. Dave Koz, Johnathan Butler, and Sheila E did a show here on Friday. You all know I’m a huge supporter of Sheila E. By her being the 1st woman I know that played drums, she has inspired my career. When I was young she inspired my life as well. I wrote about this in my Elevate Hope Foundation Post.
Well I connected with her on FB and twitter sometime last year. I wasn’t sure if she even knew who I was, because we met me before I started using Ms.Tris Beats. I had planned to go to the show, and really hadn’t thought I’d be able to go backstage.
There is always a higher power working! I logged onto twitter early Friday, and offered to take her to lunch. She gave me an early birthday present….YUP! She invited me and my guests backstage!! Yaaay!
When we arrived security wouldn’t let us do anything before or during intermission.(Booo)… Everyone on the bill gave us more than our moneys worth for sure. It really touched me to see so many people just showing love to the performers.
I really tried to take as many pictures as I could with my little phone 🙁 that was a big FAIL on my part. So many people had cameras in the venue, and I didn’t take mine…
Being as though she was a special guest, I wasn’t expecting to see her perform a lot of her material. To my surprise she did ” “Holly Rock”, and “Love Bizarre” during the 1st set before intermission.
The 1st time I saw Sheila E. perform live was at Blues Alley, a Jazz venue. It was more layed back than the Pier Six Pavillion here in Baltimore. I kept telling my friends I hope she performs “Glamorous Life”. I knew if she did, it would not be the Jazz version she did at Blues Alley….I probably said it 20 times that night..lol
Dave Koz and Jonathan Butler were awesome. I was not very familiar with latest material. They did such a great job, I’m gonna purchase their cd’s, and get to know them more. At the end of the show Dave introduced the band. Talk about a funky time, we were all dancing and clapping.
Sheila was not on stage, and I knew what was coming next. People were leaving, and Sheila returned to the stage. The crowd went wild. All of her fans went to the front, including me. I had to apologize to one guy lol, but that was the moment I had been waiting for. I was pumped when I heard the 1st three seconds of “Glamorous Life”…. She tore the house down with her playing!
I did attempt to get footage, my phone cam just would not focus with all the stage lights. I found a video which is pretty close to what we saw: Sheila E. The Glamorous Life Live

Okay the adrenaline was going… time to head back and talk to Sheila. Security was tight, but I sent the message to her, and they let us in. We waited about ten minutes, and Sheila came to see us. I had my own drumsticks with me for her to sign. She was like” Hey those aren’t my drumsticks..let me go get mine”…straight from the amazing show I got the sticks 🙂
Sheila E has a lot of love in Baltimore. When I walked around with those drumsticks, about 20 people literally begged me, even offered money for at least 1 stick WOW…
My peeps TRIED 🙁 to take a picture of Sheila and I, right before we left…Booo hoo again! When I took the phone, all in a hurry I forgot to SAVE save 1st….My pic didn’t turn out, but hers did:
( sorry she didn’t want me to post her picture, so I just blurred her side lol)
We talked for a long time, then she had to get to the meet n greet with other fans. What a night! Sheila E. is a legendary artist. Sheila has played with just about every musician you have heard of this lifetime!
I consider her a mentor. I’ve followed her career for many years. One of the most cherished moments of the night is her giving me a compliment about my work. 🙂 She told me she checked out the site, and likes the work I’m doing. Talk about fuel to my artistic fire! That really meant a lot to me. I feel so thankful today. Thanks again to “The E”…
Good Morning All! I had so much fun watching the BET 2010 Awards last night. My twitter timeline was hilarious the whole time lol.

I think this was one of the best years for the award show. They had a nice mix of hiphop, r&b, and even some gospel. I wanted to share some of my favorite performances:
P DIDDY DOES IT AGAIN! Dirty Money last night? Woo Wee I absolutely loved this segment. I already liked the song from when they performed it on American Idol…but today I had to go find the mp3!! Mr. Combs really knows how to entertain.. Dirty Money- Hello Goodmorning
The big talk of the night was Chris “Breezy’s” Micheal Jackson Tribute…. WOW!! He did an excellent job. He got so filled up at the end, that he could not even sing ” Man In The Mirror”. I am one who thinks, and feels deeply, so I can see how he got emotional. I know a lot of my friends are saying ” that was for promotion”..but I think his life issues came to a mental peak last night. If it was to get his career back in motion? It probably worked better than who ever conjured up the inappropriate idea expected..
Chris Brown MJ Tribute
Drake is a cool guy from all I’ve heard and seen of him. His performance last night was as I anticipated, flawless. He’s a smart artist. He seems as if he plans his moves wisely. So far they’ve worked like a charm 🙂
Drake ft Jeezy (Dake)
BET pulled a fast one throwing in a very nice performance from El Debarge. If I begin to explain how much The Debarge’s music has influenced my life, that’d be another whole post lol…. I will add that El Debarge was one of the first artist I “tried” to sample when I started producing… El Debarge Medley
All the clips were presented by www.mrworldpremiere.net
He has almost all of them I think..check em out if you missed the show..
Honestly I was surprised at how entertaining last nights AI final was…I had no idea Janet Jackson and Alanis Morissette would be performing what a treat!
One of My favorite performances of the night:
Crystal Bowersox & Alanis Morissette performs on American Idol – Winner Revealed
I went to see Alanis live when her 1st cd dropped. It was a great show. I remember noticing how many of her songs had similar drum beats used in hip hop.
Check out “You Oughta Know”, the beats are real funky behind the rock progressions: You Oughta Know
..how about “Hand In My Pocket”.. country rock over a nice laid back hip hop beat ..
American Idol has me listening to a little Alanis while working today..lol enjoy
Legendary MC Guru passed away yesterday from cancer. Such a sad thing to hear. I remember many Friday nights fellow hip hop heads and I would spend analyzing his lyrics and trying to imitate Premeire’s beats. Check out some of the Gang Starr classics that helped shape the sound of hip hop during that time:
