Fundamentals of Design/ Color Theory Complete!

Posted by Ms.Tris On February - 29 - 2012

Hey all what is super good with you? Last semester I did full time Design and Color Theory classes. That was very tough! Some weeks I had to do eight designs, so that’s where I was. Guess what? I made very high grades all A’s yes!! Thanks for being patient I’m back to the music and blogging as I have a lighter semester ahead.
Here’s a little sample of the work I’ve been doing. I’m in the very basic fundamental classes right now, but I’ve learned so much about design and color principles. I’m happy I went back to school, again a big thank you all for your emails, and continued visits.
FND115 & FND112 Assignments:

I will definitely be adding more assignments to the Art and Design page here for people who may need help with design courses. While working I found a few sites which students posted work. This really helped me a lot, maybe I can help the next rising artist.

Ej and I recorded several songs back in 06′. He was also the Grand Champ of Baltimore’s “Style Wars” Emcee Battle. It’s really good to catch up on his music.

Introducing Feature Photographer Kelly Connelly

Posted by Ms.Tris On April - 14 - 2009

In the music business, there are so many different jobs and people that make it all come together. When it’s time to put out a cd, videos, and scheduled performances it’s no solo act! You have the producers, the artist, the managers, the promoters, and the lawyers. There are stylist, drivers, dancers, and writers. Then you have the beautiful people that capture it all for the world to see…the directors, camera crews, and photographers!

Jamaica Sunset Photo By Kelly Connelly

I met our featured Photographer Kelly Connelly back in 2005. As an editor, she has written reviews of just about every musician I can think of locally. I was super impressed by her literary works. At the time I knew she was a writer, but I didn’t know she took photos as well.

After attending a couple events I noticed Kelly bringing her camera. About 20 people had cameras on one particular evening, including myself. I noticed that Kelly didn’t just stand in the back and take quick flicks. She actually made her way to each artist taking several shots at different angels. I realised fast… “she’s a professional photographer! Cool.”

I started seeing more of Kelly’s work on cd covers, online, and in print over the years. I began to recognise her style, and thinking her work is marvelous. Not only has she captured our local celebrities, Kelly has done amazing work from Lil Wayne to Blondie, as well as several beautiful photos from different cities around the world!

I have learned from Kelly how much it takes to capture this culture we call Hip Hop. I also know that we should give our photographers the same respect we do all involved in our projects. Please be reminded to add proper credit for all photos. Photography is art that should be valued as much as any other.

I’ve gotten permission to feature Kelly’s photography! I’ll be adding photo’s here monthly. They say a picture is worth a thousand words…..
I am happy to present the works of Kelly Connelly, the woman with photos worth millions!

Keybe Writes: Screen Test.. Those Who Have Ears Let Them Hear

Posted by Ms.Tris On November - 12 - 2008

Hey all, what’ been up with you? I hope all is well and you are preparing for 2009. I’ve signed on for my second project which is based upon poetry. I am excited because the first one ” Screen Test… Those Who Have Ears Let Them Hear” by Keybe Writes, is coming swiftly to a complete wrap. We have been getting rave reviews, although it’s really been hush hush since we started. This is a mini intro, and you will hear a lot more from Keybe very soon, including full bio, song samples, and words of inspiration. After hearing a test copy of “Screen Test”, spoken word artist “CoCoa” from L.A via Colorado has hired me for her cd. Yaay!

I missed a few days of posting and always like to keep you filled in. Over the past weekend we started drafting the artwork for the Cd, and they go to duplication on Friday. I learned that producers must share a complete vision with the artist. Keep in mind that you may have a hand in giving ideas for artwork on your projects as well as music. Here is a sneak preview of our rough first draft for cover design:

Keybe Writes “Screen Test” is poetry and prose works over Hip Hop beats. We started while I was working on the set of “The Wire”. I learned a lot from working with Keybe. Not only were her work ethics superb, her writings touched my soul and inspired me. She had a vision and came well prepared. This made it a little easier for me being “Screen Test” is the first project I’ve done with more neo-soul/ R&B type hip hop. This is my third project as sole producer, and Keybe’s introduction to the world.

I’d like to remind you as I start production for the next, there are many options for your beats. Think lyrics, poems, T.V., and soundtracks. Always keep an open mind when creating your masterpiece!~ There are many option for your beats.

Happy Beat Making To All

Speed Drawing 1

Posted by Ms.Tris On October - 2 - 2008

What’s up everybody..hope all is going well and productive for you.first a little update:
If anyone purchased the Live Off Beats Course a note about downloading the 50 drumkits.
Click on the “50 Drumkit” link and download from the site instead of downloading the html file. Download a few at a time and everything should work. They were having server problems last week, but everything is looking fine now. Also if you purchase through my link, stop back and let me know how you like it… the kits are decent, and the videos are my fav.

I will be very busy over the next few days through next Thursday, I will be posting most likely every other day, answering questions as I can, and you know I’ll be back next week with some crazy tutorials.

I would like to share some of the first videos in the graphics category. An artist named “Zsolt Mohácsi” has some speed drawing to the extreme on youtube. He uses a Digital tablet, and does some pretty amazing work.

Check out more videos on Zsolt’s website:

Now you all know I’m gonna have to try this… I’m looking at some digital tablets now 🙂
