For “The Definitive Guitar Handbook”post, I took the pictures with my cell phone. I downloaded, and installed the mobile android ‘dropbox app’, and easily uploaded the pics to my pc.

Other ways I have used it was: share an entire drumfolder, send wav files, send photos, and Reaper Sessions. Technology is making it easier and easier for musicians and more…

The Definitive Guitar Handbook

Posted by Ms.Tris On August - 23 - 2011

The Definitive Guitar Handbook

Hey Hey! I recently went to Borders for the closeout sale. I purchased a few books, and you know I went on the hunt for music theory stuff. I found an excellent guitar book! This has to be one of the most informative music books I have ever opened on the subject. There are tons of pictures. Plenty progressions, and scales explained. Loads of information about different genres of guitar like jazz, rock, and blues. It even covers changing strings, practice, and recording guitar. Brilliant read honestly…I really could go on for a long time and I’ve only had it two weeks.

Here are few pictures I took..and check out how thick it is :) :

Point Blank Online School

Posted by Ms.Tris On August - 22 - 2011

Great Morning to you! It’s back to school time here. I love this time of the year. Fall is coming, football season, and knowledge is in the air. I always feel super productive ending the summer, maybe because I was born in August. :)

I have been doing research on a few colleges that focus on music. I plan to take some courses before or in January. I’ve gotten a few good catalogs, and it’s a tough decision. Well tough until I found a school that offers specific courses for Hip Hop, Djays, and so much more.

Point Blank Music Production School brief background:

…..Point Blank has been training DJ’s, music producers, songwriters and sound engineers for over fifteen years. The music school has been voted “Best Music Production & DJ School” for six consecutive years by readers of DJ magazine.

The music school prides itself on small classes and personalized teaching from music industry professionals. Among the tutors you will find Grammy Award winners and songwriters with record sales in the millions. Plus producers and remixers who’ve worked alongside the likes of Massive Attack, Estelle, Bjork, Leftfield, De La Soul and many others.

Point Blank’s most recent innovation is the Online Music School which allows students from all over the world to tap into this music industry expertise. Thanks to a unique Direct Video Response (DVR™) system, students benefit from one-to-one video coaching from professional music producers. Each course also includes a wealth of exclusive course materials including video tutorials, course notes, projects, samples and much more.

Many Point Blank students go on to enjoy success in the music industry and included among them are Leona Lewis, Tayo (Fabric), Ben Scarr (Island Records) and Paula Fairfield – the sound designer behind hit TV show “Lost”.

The college is an Approved Training Centre for music software giants Apple, Ableton, Steinberg and Native Instruments.

Voted ‘Best Music Production and DJ College’ six years running – T-Scan Awards ……….”

Jackpot! The original school is located in the UK. The wonderful thing for me is it has everything I was looking for available for online study. I went to the site and watched a few of the free trial courses. I liked them so much that I have recently partnered with Point Blank as an affiliate. I believe in education, and what better way to advance your career than learning more about what you love to do!

Here is part one of an example course on “How To Make HipHop”:

I’ll have much more to share with you about Point Blank, as I work up to taking my full courses. Stay tuned, and please check out more information at the official site:
