Wow I am amazed at calling the Asr10 vintage lol. I got mine because Dj Scottie B had one, and later found out RZA made most of Wu-Tangs first beats with it.
Kanye West and Timbaland are also huge fans of the “Advanced Sampling Recorder”. I thought it would be nice to add more post on the Asr10.
I am not sure if this particular Asr10 has sold on ebay yet… ASR-10-4eBay
I am sure you can find one if you google ” Asr10 for Sale” if you’d like to purchase this classic sampler.

Good Morning All! Hope you are having a wonderful week!
This was a pleasant surprise for me this morning. I always admired ‘Ghostface Killah’ as an artist. From his lyrical style, to his flashy classy wardrobe!
Ghostface performed at Rams Head Live here in Baltimore this week. The interview is hot off the press! Brought to you by bmorehh.com, and hosted by Shaka ” Spitts McMan” Pitts, who are really taking Baltimore HipHop to the masses..Enjoy!

Happy Tuesday to ya! Whats been happening with your music? Have you been recording? Mixing? Making a lot of beats lately?
I’ve been keeping very busy, today I’ll be doing some web design and later I’ll be going through more guitar lessons. I haven’t picked it up in months. I have promised a producer I will learn more chords by September. Wish me luck on that
I think this time around I will check out more lessons on youtube, along with my books. I will post the best I find as I go along.
Here is a fun easy to follow start by GuitarLessonsKilburn. I really wish I found this on day one its real informative: How To Play Guitar for Beginners : Guitar Lessons for Beginners: Playing Exercise 1
A little Update:
I may be changing the site design very soon. The theme I am using will not work with wordpress updates Boooo! lol. The updates are important for security purposes so I will have to do it in the near future..I am not sure if I ‘ll change the color scheme, but you may log on and see a completely different layout.
I wanted to start with interviews last month, but music, sessions, and much more came to the forefront. I can’t pinpoint when they will start, but I am still looking for more producers to feature if you are interested. Keep in mind I can’t feature everyone, but I will try to get to as many as I can.
Thanks all who have been helping me with broken links, and correcting mistakes. You are helping me run the site with comments and suggestions..much love 4 that!
Along my journey with Fl Studio, I have been eagerly trying to get a good clean mix straight from the program. With all the plugins included and the ability to add vsts, I am sure it can be done.
A lot of producers will tell you to export the instruments and mix in another DAW. I have even told you the same. Although this is true, I am still on my quest to perfect a song completely inside Fl ..
The best way to perfect anything is to learn as much as you can about it 1st. Next you will have to put that knowledge to work. I asked myself ” Do you really know all you can about Fl Studio?” the answer was a quick “No”.
Since my main focus is mixing at this time, the first thing I need to learn thoroughly is the Fl Mixer. I found two videos that explain the mixer clearly. Both are by:Felas212. He has a great youtube channel. I will feature more of his Fl videos , but feel free to check them out. Let him know www.mstrismusic.com sent you… Intro To Fl Mixer
Mixing and Routing
I’ve never explained how I commit what I learn from the videos to memory. This may help others, so here’s what I do….
1st. I have Fl Studio open, I will watch the videos, pause and try the techniques right away.
2nd I repeat the techniques a few times with out the video
3rd I’ll go back a few days later and try the technique again from memory
Today is flying by… been working hard on a mix for a gospel cd. (notice I said MIX , yes I am finally getting used to it)…
I came across a bit of info on The Beat Thang a little while back, I actually thought they were joking because of the 1st video:
Beat Thang Real or Fake
Today I see they have already been to the 2009 Winter NAMM show…
Whoa! This looks cool!
I have enough gear right now, but If I get an extra $999.00 from a scratch off I might buy it..lol
The features that make this worth it are:
Usb output, 2 16gb cards, Chromatic pads, Portable, and included phantom power for a mic connection… If you can add an external hard drive straight to this to save and retrieve files, then this is probably worth it..Let’s check it out in action….

He’s made a video that answers Ryan Leslie’s! I was blown away by his talent ..I love production videos like this I get inspired: Ricky Gipson Vs Ryan Leslie
Ricky has begun production for Young Berg and Young Dro. Listen for him to hit the major airwaves soon..

Whenever I made a sample beat, I used to make it my business to add a funky bassline. I recently noticed my need to get beats out quickly had me straying from this more. I began to filter the samples high frequencies out instead. This technique works fine, but the beats where I played the bassline sound better in my opinion.
The first beat I made a bassline to, became a local hit in 2005. People still mention this as being one of their favorite tracks:
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
The bassline can drive your beat as much as the rhythm and melody if you choose. You can even start your beat with the bassline and build around it.
Today we’ll explore a few methods of making basslines. When I made an effort to add them, they became part of a signature style for me. Some what like 9th Wonder, he adds really funky basslines over his samples.
I made the “When I’m In The Room” beat in 2004, but listening today reminds me to get back my bass. The videos are for piano or playing bass with a midi controller… Let the bass begin!
