Pete Rock Speaks On Drum Machines

Posted by Ms.Tris On July - 29 - 2008

Good morning all. Very soon I’ll be getting into some Mpc 2500 tutorials. I’ve had mine a little over a year, and I’m finally comfortable making beats on it. I started on hardware and went to software. Today I use a mixture of both. Between the two software is definitely faster, but I can’t deny, the beats made on hardware need less tweaking out of the box. You can accomplish the same thing with software that you can with hardware. There is no better or worse really. Always remember when you hear folks debating what’s best, it’s not what you use, it’s how you use it. The one reason, and only reason I wanted the Mpc is for the distinct sound of kick drums. Other than that results are pretty much equal with knowledge of the equipment.

The legendary Pete Rock discusses his reasons he suggest drum machines. He’s one of the founders of Sample chopping. The video is courtesy of DiggitiMedia, and comes free when you make a purchase at their ebay store:Diggiti on Ebay

So what do you use to make your beats? Leave some comments, let me know what you like about your gear. We may be helping someone choose wisely about what to purchase, and I’ll have a better idea of what tutorials are needed from you.

Happy Beat Making To All
Pz Til Later….
