Dat Money “Jay” Told Me About “John Chow”

Posted by Ms.Tris On June - 20 - 2008

This is for all my blogging folks, and of course all the producers getting into it. It’s about a contest that ends today, and I’m sharing a couple new sites I’m reading to enhance my blog.

Two weeks ago I was on Datmoney.Com and I read an article about a guy named John Chow. Now everybody knows I’m new to blogging, and I’ve been following Jay’s advise on several aspects. So he made the post about John Chow Can Give You Traffic …… I’m thinking “New blog… I need traffic”… but I’d really like my traffic to come from people who need the help that I offer. So I left that post alone.

Last week I’m reading another blog and up pops Chow’s name again..so curious me typed in the addy and landed at the site of the guy with a super high google rank…whoa. His site is full of in depth tips on making your blog a success, as well as how to make money from your blog. I read a few post and added Chow to my twitter. Since then I’ve gotten so much free information from him in one week, including two ebooks about blogging. Sweeeeet….!~

So now John Chow is having a contest giving away more free stuff. I said before, I like free..woohoo..I’m in..

Take a look at what he’s giving away :

* Flip video camera
* $200 Market Leverage Amex Rewards card
* USB drive that is also a pen
* iPod Nano.

Today is the last day for entry for those who’d like a chance to win.You can find out more from John Chows Post:

Win A Market Leverage Bag Of Stuff.

All of the items in the bag come from

MarketLeverage.Com

Now while I eat my lunch I’m gonna read up on the Market Leverage folks and see what they are all about, then it’s back to making beats….Goodluck…

Rewire Reason 3.0 to Fl Studio 8

Posted by Ms.Tris On June - 20 - 2008

Today I’m gonna dive into rewire. I’m gonna use Fl Studio 8 rewired to Sonar Le. First thing I do is open my help file, and follow the instructions. So far so good. Next I decided I want to use Reason and Fl Studio later on, rewired to Sonar… So I start fiddling with the options…. 1/2 hour into this, and I’m ready to just make the beat…lol
Hmnn Fl Studio 8 and Reason..some might say ” why would you want to do that?” For me Fl Studio gives the kick a grimy underground HipHop sound, and Reason synths have better quality without as much tweaking. That’s it… no more no less… both programs are awesome. Remember I told you I am just getting deep into mixing, so right now I have to do the best mix I can inside the software then export and mix in my editor. I’ve often made beats with Reason wishing I had that grimy kick from Fl Studio… okay so here we are… I ” you tubed ” it :-) and found this quick video that shows how to rewire Reason 3.0 to Fl Studio 8, from the picture the producer looks young but his beat is pretty hot too… let’s get to it

Aighty I’m off to make some new heat..time to update the beat section. I’m still working on the pages but coming soon you’ll have all the Ms.Tris Beats in categories… yaay.

**All emcees stop back later I’m gonna do a ” Friday Freebie”…**

Happy Beat making To All

Snare Rolls : Reason 3.0 Using The NNXT

Posted by Ms.Tris On June - 19 - 2008

Aahh the infamous Dirty South Snare Roll, Mannie Fresh was the king of this supersonic 808 roll when Southern Rap was on the rise. Heres a clip of “Real Big”, though he may not have been the first, Mannie definitely made the 808 roll popular.
Snare Rolls Mannie Fresh’s Real Big
Free 808 Snr

How I achieve this in Reason:

I like to use the NNXT for snare rolls instead of the ReDrum. I find that I can tweak the snare .wav better, and have more control over the dynamics. (I will continue next week with Fl Studio Snare Rolls, but if you are an Fl user ..you can apply this same concept in the Fl piano roll)

I load my 808 Sn into the NNXT

How To Use Samples In Reason

Posted by Ms.Tris Beats On June - 17 - 2008

Last month we learned how to chop samples, today we’ll look at the many ways you can use them in Reason. Propellerheads Recycle is the most popular way to to edit samples for Reason. Recycle allows you to chop the sample, edit the filters, time pitch, and save as a Rex file. Once saved as a Rex file your sample can be loaded into Reasons various samplers, mapped out across your midi keyboard. Here is a short video which demonstrates some of the chopping capabilities of Recycle Read the rest of this entry »
